Baby & Me Tobacco Free
Did you know that the in December of 2017 the percent of pregnant women who smoked in Kosciusko County was 14.3%? Thanks to the The Baby & Me Tobacco Free Program at Live Well Kosciusko that number had decreased to 11.2% in January of 2020.
Smoking during pregnancy and exposure to second hand smoke during childhood increases the risk of:
- Low birth weight
- Infant mortality
- SIDS
- Maternal mortality
- Asthma
- Other respiratory infections.
The Baby & Me Tobacco Free Program provides pregnant women and their babies:
- A smoking cessation program during pregnancy and for 12 months after birth
- Monthly educational sessions which includes monthly child developmental information
- Nicotine monitoring
- Monthly diaper vouchers for mothers who remain smoke free

VOICE is Indiana’s statewide youth empowerment brand. This initiative is designed to engage, educate and empower teens to promote and celebrate tobacco-free lifestyles.
