The data is now available and being used to identify and prioritize areas of focus for future improvements to well-being in Kosciusko County. Organizations are encouraged to contact Live Well Kosciusko to request the full data set or to schedule a presentation of the data results for use at their organization.
We often underestimate the impact of our closest relationships and social connections on our well-being However, our well-being is dramatically influenced by the people around us as well as by our friends' independent network of relationships. Social well-being is about having strong relationships and love in your life.
Money may not buy happiness, but it is hard to be happy if you cannot meet your basic needs. Beyond that, the actual amount of money you have has less of an impact on your overall well-being than financial security and how you manage and spend your money. Financial well-being is about effectively managing your economic life.
At a basic level, we need to feel safe where we live and secure about the quality of water we drink and the air we breathe. We also need to have a home that meets our needs and a community we can take pride in. When we get involved in our community and give back to society, it benefits us as well as the recipients and our entire community. Community well-being is about the sense of engagement you have with the area where you live.
The short-term choices we make can have a long-term effect on our overall physical health. When we adopt healthy habits and make smart lifestyle choices about diet, exercise, and sleep, we feel better, have more energy, look better, and live longer. Physical well-being is about having good health and enough energy to get things done on a daily basis.
Many of us work in a traditional organizational setting, while others work in homes, classrooms, manufacturing, or outdoors. No matter where we spend our time, at a basic level, we need something to do - and ideally something to look forward to. Purpose/Career well-being is about liking what you do every day.
The Kosciusko County Health and Well-being Council exists to strategically plan, influence, and initiate community-wide efforts to pursue an environment of well-being for all residents. This leadership group will work collaboratively and holistically to impact areas of purpose/career, social, financial, community, and physical well-being. The ultimate goal is that our county becomes a place where people thrive, and others desire to come to live, learn, work and play.
