Youth Coordinator (Voice Adult Ally)

 Classification:  Full-Time Exempt  

Hours:  40 hours a week 

Reports to:   Kosciusko County Tobacco Free Coalition, Lead Agency, TPC 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.  They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, and skills required. 

  1. The Youth Coordinator completes assigned responsibilities for the Kosciusko Tobacco Free Coalition. 
  2. The Youth Coordinator will fully engage community and coalition members, including specific task force groups, in the business of tobacco control.  
  3. The Youth Coordinator will commit to study CDC’s Best Practices models in tobacco control: Youth Engagement, resources from VOICE, the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids, Counter Tobacco, and the Truth Initiative.  
  4. The Youth Coordinator will use proven, evidence-based actions to reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke, and to prevent tobacco use in the community. 
  5. The Youth Coordinator will honor and adhere to the youth empowerment model and practice youth development best practices.  
  6. The Youth Coordinator will implement the UpRISE Social Justice Youth Tobacco Control Curriculum.  
  7. The Youth Coordinator will support the coalition to strategize action to reduce youth tobacco use in the county through policy and programs.  
  8. The Youth Coordinator will document completion of activities contracted in the written work plan submitted with this proposal by the Coalition of Kosciusko County. 
  9. The Youth Coordinator will specifically oversee work in Indicators 1, 2, 3, and 7 with most hours dedicated to Indicator 2 as the Voice Adult Ally. 
  10. The Youth Coordinator will continue to develop and maintain relationships with local and state policymakers to educate and advocate for policy change.


Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to complete each essential duty satisfactorily unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation. 

  1. Post high school education: associates or bachelor’s degree. 
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking. 
  3. Strong organizational skills including community organizing skills; experience recruiting and organizing volunteers 
  4. Experience with media, policy advocacy, and political campaigns. 
  5. Experience in the area of youth engagement and empowerment. 
  6. Familiarity with social media platforms. 
  7. Basic computer skills. 
  8. Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate events and activities required by the grant. 
  9. Possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. 

Breathe Well Coalition Coordinator

Classification:  Full-Time Exempt  

Hours:  40 hours 

Reports to:   Live Well Kosciusko President & CEO 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.  They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, and skills required. 

  1. The Coalition Coordinator completes assigned responsibilities for the Kosciusko Tobacco Free/Breathe Well Coalition. 
  2. The Coalition Coordinator travels in Kosciusko County and to other locations in the state several times a year for training or meetings. 
  3. The Coalition Coordinator will recruit and organize both individuals and organizational representatives from the community to form a coalition representing diverse interests and backgrounds.  
  4. The Coalition Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining relationships with the local school systems and will to the best of their ability recruit public schools that are selected to conduct the Youth Tobacco Survey in Fall of 2024 and assist in proctoring. 
  5. The coordinator will lead the coalition to strategize action to reduce tobacco use in the county through policy and programs.  
  6. The Coalition Coordinator will fully engage community and coalition members, including specific task force groups, in the business of tobacco control. The coordinator will commit to study CDC’s Best Practices models in tobacco control. The coordinator will use proven, evidence-based actions to reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke, and to prevent tobacco use in the community.  
  7. The Coalition Coordinator will work with healthcare providers, businesses, and other organizations to educate them about evidence-based commercial tobacco control practices, assist them with policy development and implementation, and collaborate with them to increase referral and acceptance rates to the Indiana Tobacco Quitline. 
  8. The Coalition Coordinator will document completion of activities contracted in the written work plan submitted with this proposal by the Coalition of Kosciusko County. The Coalition Coordinator will submit electronic reports as required and respond to local and state needs for information as directed. 
  9. The Coalition Coordinator will provide counsel and assistance to other staff members and will supervise the Youth Coordinator. 
  10. The Coalition Coordinator will work with the Live Well Marketing Specialist to plan media campaigns including developing partnerships with local news venues and providing accurate local, state, national and international information on tobacco control to the news media as is necessary for education of the public on tobacco issues. 
  11. The Coalition Coordinator will continue to develop and maintain relationships with local and state policymakers to educate for policy change. 
  12. Other duties as assigned.

  4. Familiarity with social media platforms. 
  5. Computer skills including Microsoft Office. 
  6. Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate events and activities required by the grant. 
  7. Possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
