The Energy Assistance Program (EAP) can help you pay your heat and electric bills! EAP is a federally-funded program through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). EAP provides a one-time annual benefit that can assist you with the high cost of home energy and can help if you are disconnected, or are about to get disconnected.

The Salvation Army provides rent and utility assistance to help families facing financial hardship stay in their homes. These programs aim to ease the burden of choosing between essential needs, such as heating, electricity, and housing stability. Call 574-267-5361 for more help.
CCS offers utility assistance to low-income households or those experiencing temporary hardships to prevent service disconnection. Funding is provided through individual donations, as well as support from REMC and NIPSCO.
Lifeline is an FCC program that helps make communications services more affordable for low-income consumers.
Lifeline provides subscribers a discount on qualifying monthly telephone service, broadband Internet service, or bundled voice-broadband packages purchased from participating wireline or wireless providers.
Several local banks, including 1st Source Bank and Lake City Bank, can help with housing repairs (such as roofs, furnaces, AC, and well pumps) for income-eligible homeowners each year through the Neighborhood Impact Program.

They can help with utility bills, work clothing, gas vouchers for emergency situations and assistance to families affected by disasters such as fire and flood. Many people without homes are helped as well with food, clothing and referral to other resources.

Eligible clients may receive up to ten (10) medication vouchers per calendar year, each valued at $50, to be used at most pharmacies in the county. Similarly, up to ten (10) medical supply vouchers, also valued at $50 each, are available annually for eligible clients.
